THE 2023 ONDO RALLY: AIRTEL, THE GIANT TELECOMS ORGANISATION MADE A WAVE AND PLAYED PIVOTAL ROLE TO MAKE IT A SUCCESSFUL OUTCOME



As expected, the recently concluded 2023 Ondo Motor Rally is done and dusted. The rally was a delightful and fulfilling feat, with participants and spectators enjoying a thrilling display of skill, agility, and speed. It was a holiday atmosphere with music, dancing, food and drinks by thousands of people from around the country and abroad who flocked to the city of Ilara-Mokin, filling up all the hotels with large chunk spill over to the hotels in Akure. While many key players and sponsors were involved in the event, Airtel was one company that stood out head and shoulder tall in their presence, significantly contributing to the festival’s pageantry, parade, and fanfare.

Airtel truly helped make the 2023 Ondo Motor Rally run smoothly and efficiently by providing the essential telecom services that included internet connectivity, on-the-ground customer services, and aiding mobile communication, allowing participants and spectators alike to stay connected throughout the event.

Telecommunication is key to the success of any motor rally with the provision of high-speed internet services allowing the organisers and participants to communicate effectively, track the progress of assignments in real-time, and enable them to stay on social media, monitor reactions, comments and gauge feedback. More importantly, spectators can stay connected to the action, sharing photos and videos of the race on social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram, Tiktok, Linkedln In, etc.

The Ondo State Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa spent over five hours watching the spectacles and at the end, promised that the state would fully support and would do all it can to see to the continued growth of motorsports in the state. Given such a supportive promise by the Office of the Governor, Airtel taking the front seat in such an endeavour becomes more significant. The expectation is limitless; because as the state and more organisations join the drive, piggybacking on the foundation now set, telecoms will be required to ensure the safety of all those involved in the event as they are to provide mobile communication services to the organizers, allowing them to stay in touch with emergency services personnel to respond quickly to any incidents that could occur during the races well as expected to provide avenues for words, audio, video communication access, etc. Airtel being on the ground at Ilara-Mokin and being instrumental to the success of the 2023 Ondo Motor Rally is not only commendable but that by such stroke of ingenuity and taking a calculated risk to be one of vanguard supportive front liners, their role and place can be taken for granted as cemented partners with the promotion organisation, Work and Play, and the Ondo State government.

As the popularity of motorsport continues to grow in Nigeria and get the support required, it is clear that companies such as Airtel's commitment to taking the leap, being supportive and ensuring effective communication of all present are evidence of their dedication to their customers, and showcasing their increasingly important role in the support of sporting events. And with their improved extensive network infrastructure and commitment to providing the latest high-quality services, the future of the Ondo Motor Rally for years to come can only get better.
