DISQUALIFICATION OF OBASEKI, MATTER ARISING:

I think it is important for the leaders in APC who truly love the party to show support and direction before the series of elections ahead. Edo State is not only a hotbed but hothead for political bands with different agenda needing the APC leadership intervene early so that issues on the disqualification of Obaseki could best be commented on and discussed without incitements or sentiment that could cause disquiet, violence and disqualification of the party in Edo State.

For instance, I read response to an article stating reasons and response by the different parties involved, of reasons the governor was disqualified and his response. In the ThisDay Online comment column, a certain gentleman began his argument; in the first two lines making suggestive comment as follow; "Our political leaders are worse than vultures and they should not be trusted." Then, straight on to "Prof. Ayuba is a disgrace" because he is being used and, this other unamed "man" was once a "cult member, pardoned," so, ought to be disqualified...

This is classic leading suggestion sneaked into a claim that is then used to make case in an arguement. So, here the claim is that political leaders who "make mockery" of democracy are worst than vulture, fine. That might be true, but then again, it might not be. However, because it forces the thinking by analysis, unproven to go in a certain direction, it is a classic example of begging/suggesting ‘what must be answer’ to a question.

Questions: 1. What are the issue(s) surrounding the disqualification that is clearly prejudicial that the premise or suggestion was built on? 2. What argument proved Prof. Ayuba a disgrace? What leading logic proved that the "man" once claimed to had been cult member, pardoned, ought to be disqualified?

So, APC Committee disqualified Obaseki because he could not prove the authenticity of his HSLC? I know for certain Nigeria had High School Certificate(HSC) and that, that was issued by due authority as at the year in question-1976. It was, in the report submitted by the Committee headed by Prof. Ayuba that Governor Obaseki was disqualified because, he could not present the certificate, prove or convince the Committee that he obtained such certificate or that such certification existed. If the commentator could prove otherwise; that this was not ground enough for such disqualification or that there exist such certification as HSLC or that, Obaseki who noted it as part of his qualification in the form filled for governorship candidacy, was able to justify it's availability, due certification and authenticity, then the commentator can claim that Prof. Ayuba is a disgrace to still have disqualified the governor in the face of such overwhelming evidence.

Again, "the man" purported to being planned to be nominated by "they," the commentator said should equally be disqualified. The ground for that was that, the “unarmed” man was once a cult member who got pardoned. First, it'd have made more sense and logical suggestive argument if first, the commentator gave detailed background of the cult membership, what role the unarmed man played, the unarmed man’s damaging, unethical, immoral, etc deeds, further proved the man did not deserve the pardon and therefore not worthy of a governorship qualification or ticket.

Follow this path and I’m sure the above claimed would have been justified. But not doing so can only mean, begging the question that only can help to fuel an already charged situation needing only ignition. And, we do know that when the burning starts, the APC leaders would rally as fire fighters. This is a call for these leaders to choke or douse the spitting amber now.
