ARE YOU BUCKLED FOR THE ILARA-MOKIN WILD RIDE: IT IS 13 DAYS TO GO TO THE 6TH ONDO AUTO RALLY IN 2023!

 

 

One of my followers reacting to my article on social media recently wrote, “as a Motorsport enthusiast, I have always been fascinated by the thrill of high-speed racing events. Please, when will the event take place in Lagos?” Stay tuned, I will inform you, was my simple stated response.

So, yeah, the pioneering works of Work and Play (W & P) Promotions on race rallying in Nigeria are generating lots of interest, and attracting participants and spectators from all over the world. This article is a recap; an overview of what to expect at the 6th Ondo Auto Rally in 2023.

The Ondo festival like any other auto rally is a Motorsport event that involves racing on privately constructed tracks as W & P has done in Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, off-road trails, or a combination of both. It tests the driver's skills, the vehicle's performance, and the ability to navigate challenging terrain and obstacles. The goal of the rally is to complete the course in the shortest time possible while following the prescribed route and maintaining safety standards.

The Ondo Auto Rally is presently scheduled as an annual event that has been held in Ondo State, Nigeria since 2018. It was initiated by Work and Play Promotions in conjunction with the Ondo State government to promote tourism, youth empowerment, and economic development. The rally has grown in popularity over the years, attracting local and international participants and generating significant revenue for the state.

The coming 6th Ondo Auto Rally is scheduled to take place on 8th April 2023 and promises to be a spectacular event. The rally will feature a diverse range of cars, from vintage models to modern sports cars and off-road vehicles. Participants will include male and female professional and amateur drivers from Nigeria and other countries, all vying for the top prize.

The Ondo Auto Rally is open to all participants who meet the eligibility criteria, including having a valid driver's license and besides vehicles provided by sponsors, will accommodate properly registered other vehicles. The rally attracts diverse cars, from small hatchbacks to powerful supercars and rugged off-road vehicles. All participants for the 6th Ondo have already had their vehicles registered as required and undergone safety inspections before the event.

The route of the Ondo Auto Rally is designed to challenge the drivers and their cars, while also showcasing the natural beautiful scenery of Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State. The route goes through hills and valleys both on-road and off-road sections, with varying degrees of difficulty. Participants will face challenges such as steep inclines, rocky terrain, and tight corners, requiring them to use their driving skills and vehicle capabilities to their fullest.

The safety of participants and spectators, as I mentioned in my last article, is a top priority for Work & Play at the Ondo Auto Rally. And to this end, they have formed partnerships with the relevant authorities, including the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Nigeria Police Force, and health institutions to ensure that safety standards are met. Safety measures include mandatory safety inspections, speed limits, and emergency response teams at the different routes and medical teams on standby.

Spectators are an integral part of the Ondo Auto Rally, and there are many viewing locations along the route. However, it is essential to follow safety guidelines instituted by W & P, which will be announced at the venue, All participants are to stay in designated areas to avoid accidents. Spectators are also here advised to also bring whatever protective gear they can such as earplugs, caps or hats, and sunscreen for those who require them, and very importantly carry enough water and snacks to last the duration of the period.

The Ondo Auto Rally is not just about racing; it is a festival of Motorsport and socialization culture that will feature many entertainment activities, including live music, dance, food, drinks, and various kinds of exhibitions. There are also opportunities for spectators to meet and interact with the VIPs and drivers, and W & P teams.

Attending the Ondo Auto Rally has many benefits, both for participants and spectators. For participants, it is an opportunity to showcase their driving skills and compete against other drivers from around the world. For spectators, it is a chance to witness an exciting Motorsport event, experience Nigeria's natural beauty, and participate in sociocultural sporting activities.

The 6th Ondo Auto Rally promises to be a thrilling festival, showcasing the best of Nigerian Motorsport and culture. With its challenging route, a diverse range of cars, and exciting activities, it is an event that should not be missed. So, buckle up to be there!

WHY WOMEN WON'T GO TO HEAVEN
