At the Crossroads of Life

I have now arrived at this place, Where upfront conversations find their space. Subliminal posts and passive aggression are no longer part of my expression. If you should come knocking on my door with negativity, I’ll pray for you, my heart filled with positivity, honesty and beatitude intertwine, As I navigate this renewed intricate design. Motives, like a fuel-filled locomotive, Chokingly closer, faster—life’s emotive. Yet even when disturbed or distressed, I stay resolute, No need to explain—I’ve spoken my truth. Honour bestowed upon the genuine few, Boldness, majesty, and modesty in view. Listening ears, always ready to lend, In this place, authenticity is my friend. Friends, like life itself, precious and few, Sticking by my side, like morning dew. Insisting on sense? Not my pursuit, I flow with life’s current, resolute. Each occurrence was a lesson in disguise, Blessings veiled as grace before my eyes. Renewed, I stand at life’s grand gate, Embracing the journey, early or late

SEASON OF RENEWAL

In the garden of our hearts, a  new season blooms, Where wisdom whispers and clarity looms. Prudential choices we pray guide our ways, as we seek connections that gently sway. A prudential path, both wise and bright, that leads us to bonds that feel just right. No more murky waters, no more strife, or stress, just easeful connections that enrich our lives. In such a season and space,, love is not a fight, But a dance where dtrifes take flight. Reciprocity blooms, like petals unfurled, As we nurture connections that light up our world. Gone are then such days of emotional drain, Of relationships that caused us pain. No more eggshells, no more guessing, We choose bonds that bring us genuine blessing. We step away from uncertainty’s haze, No longer lost in a relational maze. We deserve places where we’re seen, supported and heard, Where respect and value are freely conferred. A partner who soothes our trembling nerves, A safe harbour where vulnerability serves. Together, we regulate, we h

Embrace Your Journey

In life’s tapestry, woven day by day, We are confronted with choices, each step our own way. With the world’s voices echoing, subjective opinions so loud, Yet within, our true compass, our hearts need to remain unbowed. When labelled “fat,” or deemed “too thin,” Remember, it’s your journey, your path to begin. Nourish your body, and honour its grace as best fits you, for self-love and acceptance ought to be of your space. Dress as you please, whether simple or grand, Let authenticity be your guide, be bold in your style. Ignoring the whispers of judgment and strife, For your style, is an expression of your inner life. Speak your mind freely, unafraid of critique, Or choose silence, a refuge when words feel weak. Neither coward nor rebel, but wisdom’s embrace, Your voice as you deem fit. matters. Success and dignity—prizes hard-won, May draw envy’s gaze, yet they’re yours as won. Does that make you arrogant? No, confidence perhaps, and a beacon for others to seek and find. Struggles wea

Transformation

In the crucible of change, your old life smolders, Its embers fading, consumed by the flames of growth. This metamorphosis demands a toll, a currency of sacrifice: Your comfort zone, once familiar and cozy, Now a relic left behind on the path to renewal. Your comfort zone, that snug cocoon of habit, Must be unraveled, thread by thread. The warmth it provided becomes stifling, A shroud that hinders your wingspan. So, step out into the brisk air of uncertainty, For there lies the canvas of your transformation. Your sense of direction, once a compass, Now spins wildly, pointing to uncharted lands. Fear not the disorientation; it’s the rite of passage. Trust that the stars will guide you, Even when the constellations rearrange. Bonds may fray, connections strained, As you forge ahead, leaving familiar shores. Family ties, once unbreakable, may stretch thin, Yet remember: blood is not the sole kinship. Seek soul companions who walk alongside, Their loyalty unwavering, their love un

THE BACKWARD LAW

In life’s intricate waltz, we sway, Seeking joy, and chasing dreams each day. Yet paradoxes weave our threads, Where wanting more leaves our hearts misled. Wanting a positive experience is a negative experience. We yearn for bliss, and a sunlit sky, But craving joy can make it fly. For in our grasp, it slips away, The more we chase, the less we sway. Accepting a negative experience is a positive experience. When storms descend and shadows fall, Embrace the rain, the tempest’s call. For growth emerges from life’s strife, And pain can sculpt a richer life. The pursuit of happiness can actually make you unhappier. Like butterflies we chase delight, Yet wings may fray in endless flight. Contentment blooms when we release, The need to grasp and tightly seize. More importantly, you want to be rich. We hunger for abundance and wealth, But riches don’t ensure the soul’s health. The more we crave, the more we lack, Our hearts are entangled in desire’s track. The more poor and needy you feel, re

Long-Term Lust vs. Short-Term Love

In life’s grand theatre, passions intertwine, Long-term lust and fleeting love engage,  Yet in this dance, which path shall we assign?  To love’s brief spark or lust’s enduring stage? Lust, like a wildfire, burns with fervent heat, Its flames consuming reason, leaving scars.  Desire’s hunger is insatiably and ever fleeting, Yet fades when novelty no longer mars. But love, ah love! A tender, patient bloom, Roots deep within the soil of shared delight.  It weathers storms, endures the winter’s gloom, And blossoms forth in moments pure and bright. So choose, dear heart, with wisdom’s gentle art, Short-term love,  For it is in brevity that lies life’s truest path.

MY THOUGHTS AS BIRTHDAY WISH TO MY WIFE, YINKA OZIQUE.

The longer I have been with and loved you, The more deeply I have come to realise in truth that often Love, whether we call it an affair, friendship, marriage, or  brief romance, Is the sentimental seek and search to, mirror and magnify one's life in another And after planting, and gently nurturing it; nicely, kindly, steadfastly and committedly to growing, On such a journey will come stumbling mountains, distractions and all sorts of scuttles At such moment went life, love, shame, sorrow and distractions intervene That is when a clear kind, wonderful and angelic  person like the one I have in my life becomes  a life-line There to beam me back to reality, to refocus on my presence, be grateful and be in the grace of divine presence You, Yinka Ozique, you are that angel that miracle of marriage has afforded me Happy birthday darlyn, and as you move on from May 5th, may the renewed journey remain blessed as has been the others.

Timi Ehizogie's Sonnet.

Timi, my dear, your name dances on my lips, A melody of longing, sweet, loving and strong.  In the quiet corners of my heart, you’ve sprung, A secret bloom that’s right where it belongs. I yearn to traverse the depths of your body and soul, To set your eyes and heart with stars. Each heartbeat emits a reminder of you wanting to be with me, hungry for my touch, to hold you close beneath celestial skies. It was fate, the wonderous mistress, weaving her thread that has bonded us in this web. I am older, married, and experienced, While you, my darling, have life’s grand expanses to experience. Still, I dream of us having stolen moments, wild and free When time stands still, and it’s just you and me stripped of all pretences. Thank you for all the stolen moments we have shared so far,  For the kisses sent across the net.  And though our paths may diverge, I want you to know I’ll always care, my baby boo,  Timi.

“The Embrace of True Friendship"

In the quiet corners of our souls, Where shadows dance and secrets reside, True friendship blooms, unyielding and whole, Beyond mere gains, where hearts confide. It’s not about the self, but the other, A sacred pact woven with threads of trust, Where vulnerability finds a gentle cover, And judgment flees, replaced by love’s robust. To share our deepest fears and scars, To lay bare the tapestry of our past, Requires a friend who’ll bear the stars, Listening, understanding, and be steadfast. When broken pieces lie scattered wide, A true companion steps forth, serene, Kindness mends, like a soothing tide, Guiding us toward healing, unforeseen. Intimate friendship, a sanctuary found, In the presence of a soul unmasked, No pretences, no judgment to confound, Just acceptance, where authenticity basks. In a world of masks and transient guise, We seek those rare gems, those hearts aglow, Where intimacy thrives, and love defies, A state of being only true friends know. So, Femi Amodu, as sixty

VOYAGE

Everything happens to us for a reason; A symphony of chance and sometimes terrors,  Life’s unpredictable dance, never ceasing,  Feelings and happenstance, never final. Embrace life in its full spectrum,  For it paints our canvas with vivid hues,  Expect twists and turns, the grand enigma,  Highs and lows interwoven, like morning dew. In moments of bliss,  we soar on wings of light, Yet fears may grip us, with shadows in the night,  But remember this truth, etched in the stars:  No storm lasts forever; it’s merely a passing scar. Just as the sun rises, Unwavering and bold, Hidden behind clouds,  Yet steadfast in its hold,  The key lies in journeying, step by step,  Through valleys and peaks, where dreams are kept. Embrace each experience as a cherished gift,  Let them mold you,  Shape your very core,  But never let them define your character’s rift,  For you’re more than the sum of moments galore. Your present chapter isn’t the final page,  Life’s story unfolds, an unwritten tome,  So k

A SONNET OF GRATITUDE: EMBRACING LIFE'S JOY

To my fellow Writers, guided by DChair and WIN President, In this poetic haven, I share wisdom gleaned, From your responses to my verses, twofold are my lessons: We all ought learn to tread gently upon our own souls, Make kindness our compass, and gratitude our song. For what we possess outweighs what eludes us. Each dawn, a whispered promise—and privilege. On this fleeting voyage across Earth’s canvas, Inevitability dances in both light and shadow. Why, then, dwell on and be dead set on overcloud? Instead, seek the crevices of light  where joy blooms. Life—a fragile gift, is a miracle spunned. Sleep and waking, twin threads we have no control. Escaping mishaps, is all by  His mercy. So, now, as I gaze sleeplessly skyward, seeking stars, And as me and my phone dance these tete-a-tete with you, my kins: My family of Writers, be assured I do so with grateful heart.

STILL UP, STILL HERE; UPDATING.

In the quiet of yesternight, I penned my farewell, A whispered epitaph, my phone and I inked with care, And the reactions was outpouring love that went overdrive in swell: Swiftly were drums full of water poured, to quench my tender flare. “Godforbids” echoed, as if all have some sacred vows; Some contractual whispers by the celestial to their ears that I know not of, So, given another night, I remain here as unwritten fate allows, To taste life’s flavours; the inconveniencing aches, family joys and your love. Thank you all, dear friends and family, for your warm embrace, For wanting me still, though not knowing how near or far my time draws, The Writer within me knows the final trace is inevitable, And I am prepared for the 'whatever,' without fear. And do please, hold my wishes close, let no tear pop or fall, Otherwise, ghostly unrelenting whispers shall haunt, any and all who defy me!! Love Always. Segun.

A SONNET FOR LIFE'S PRECOPUS MOMENTS

In shadows cast by fate's unyielding hand, I recently survived a near fatal accident dancing with death,  Now I linger here near the edge of life's abyss, fragile but still alive, God has bestowed me a gift—a chance to reminisce. I cannot sleep as night stretch like moon-kissed nights, I stay awake pondering mortality's silent plea, How swiftly moments slip through mortal maze, And how we take for granted what we freely are gifted. I've loved and been beloved, felt passion's fire, Traversed the globe, embraced diverse terrain, Tasted life's rich tapestry, its vibrant choir, Each face, each culture, etched upon my brain. My son, my pride, a legacy so bright, My wife, my angel, guiding me with prayers. And Gabriel, my brother, steadfast and true, Across the world, dear kin, I hold you near, If fate should claim me, skies of azure blue, Know this: I'm in a happy place, devoid of fear. No tears, my family and friends, for I have lived my best, To realms unknown,
