2024, THE AWAKENINGS:

2024, a year of trials, not to mend,  But to strip illusions, to comprehend.  Life’s not easy, it’s clear to see,  It woke us up, demanded we be free. Will 2025 be the year we mend?  Are we ready, lessons learned to the end?  Will we stay dreaming, hoping in vain,  Or awake and doing, embracing the pain? The clock never pauses, it ticks away,  After midnight tomorrow, another day.  Despite our choices, time marches on,  In the dawn of 2025, we must be strong.

NEW YEAR POEM TO ME

This prayer is that you may never be or seek perfection,  To the me that is now and the me that will be in the new year,  May this poem remind you to pause and breathe deeply,  To take charge of the chaos within and find your calm. May you strive not for perfection, but to be the best version of yourself,  May your kind and generous wishes come true,  Not just for yourself, but for everyone around you.  With each door that opens, may you remain humble and grounded. May you never be perfect, but always strive to be your best, May life’s challenges never cause you to stumble,  May the strength of your spirit never grow weary.  May you sleep deeply and peacefully each night,  Guided by the moon at night and energized by the sun each day. May you look back on this year with fond memories,  And live in the new year’s presence with empathy and grace.  May each step you take in the new year be built on the foundation of the last,  As ...

SOUL MATE

You really cannot dictate to the heart who to love, love that endures, that is unconditional and kind Love that sings a melody, that only a heart hears,  Is not a relationship to be condensed  in how long but how well.  Love transcends society’s narrow view,  It’s not about status or what one can do.  It’s the essence of another you needed to fulfill you,  A connection so deep, it leaves no room for doubt., Others may not grasp the depth of what you see,  Yet what you appreciate is the heart’s true seed.  Meeting the soil that complements them so well,  A place where plant would flourish safely. True Love is where one heart ignite another's inner light,  Where mere touch makes everything feel right.  Where memories of times spent bring endless smiles,  And each other's presence makes life worthwhile. Love isn’t always a perfect fit,  It’s not a conquest, but heartfelt hit.  It’s often about a heart able to sing specia...

EFFECTS OF GOOD DEEDS

Someone, somewhere, still tells the jokes they learned from you. Someone still uses the words and phrases you once did. Some still listen to the music you used to play. Some still smile when memories of time with you flash by. Someone is still encouraged by the advice you give. Some admire you and feel inspired from afar. Some have learned to love because of you. Many go through life, perhaps unaware of how much of you they carry, But it’s always there in how they handle things differently, In the small choices they make or how they see the world. You might just be a memory on the surface, But underneath, there is much more than meets the eye, Shaping lives in ways that deeply matter. And while they may not know or say it, The grace of the mark that lasts is what truly matters.

POSITIVE REMINDER

Let go of numbers that no longer are relevant to you,  Same as discarding what you no longer wear or use.  Or releasing what doesn’t fit or hold relevance, and lastly, Forgive those who have wronged you, to set yourself free. We clenched hand to crack walls,  But need an open hand to be able to mend the cracks.  The past is stubborn, will stay unchanging despite regrets, Healing begins when you work with the tide, not struggling against it. Life may be tough, but its rewards are sweet, Challenges may try to break you, but only succeeds When you do not celebrate the strength that keeps you standing,  Embrace the smiles that fortune brings your way. Some hang on to the last drop of hope,  For others, each day is an unfettered joy.  Tell those you love how you feel while they can hear,  For death gives no notice of its arrival. Time is a gift we all share, but living is unique,  Be kind to yourself, and live as best as you can.  We may not ...

BREAD AND BREATH OF LIFE:

When man and nature dance at dawn, where life finds relief, A silent magical agreement is struck beyond belief. Where one breathes out life, the other breathes it in, All to bring about a cycle where all life begins. As our exhalation, is their sweet inhale, We both generate stories told in gales. Carbon dioxide, our gift to the trees, As oxygen is returned, in every breeze. Roots deep in earth, branches to sky, A bond unseen by the naked eye. Inhale, exhale, a rhythmic song, Together in this dance, we belong. Leaves whisper secrets, ancient and wise, Under the canopy, life’s truths arise. From seed to sprout, from bud to bloom, To green embrace, on our tables in sitting rooms. Photosynthesis, a wondrous feat, Turning sunlight into life’s heartbeat. We give, they take, creating a perfect blend, Cycle, where there should be no end. Where every  breath is a breath of life, Netting joy and sorrow, peace and strife. For in each knitting, a promise lies, Of life renewed, beneath the ski...

ON FAITH AND BELIEFS

What I cherish about faith and beliefs Is the boundless road they lead.  The true magic of faith lies in that mystery; The uncertainty of dreams coming true.  Not know where the path leads,  Or if it will lead anywhere at all.  Yet, you step forward, holding onto faith,  Even on the toughest, most harrowing days. Sometimes, your beliefs may waver,  And you feel like giving up. At other times, a ray of light breaks through.  But faith keeps you steady amidst uncertainties, Assuring you that what is meant for you will find you. That you are exactly where you need to be in this moment. The real magic shines when dark days try to break you, But you keep moving forward, believing.  Your heart beats with the mantra:  Nothing is impossible if only you have faith.  Believing you have a diviner in the equation,  That with your courage, commitment to, And in fidelity in a divinity of endless possibilities,  As well as in your refusal to ...

INDOMITABLE SPIRIT

Because no one told you That anything is impossible, You rise up every day dawn, Embracing new challenges, With a heart full of courage, And a mind set on victory. You go for it, just do it, With the fire of determination, Breaking barriers, Shattering doubts, Going as if you know the secret, That, dreams are made real by action. Best though to go for it as knowing nothing, With the innocence of a babe, Unburdened by fear or preconception,   Believing that in the purity of your quest, Lies the power to achieve, To transform, to inspire. More can be accomplished, With such deep thoughts, With a spirit unyielding, And a vision unclouded, For this is the best attitude, In today’s ever-changing society. So, rise and shine, With an unstoppable spirit, For the world awaits, Your unique brilliance, And the wonders you’ll create, Because no one told you, That anything is impossible.

THE JOURNEY OF LIFE

In the pages of life’s journey, strains and pain will find its place, The pace of progress, remaining an uncomfortable phase. Keep reading through the writing, to turn heaviness lighter, But in the process, don’t pretend everything’s alright. For some, sadness feels better than feeling good, So sometimes, let those feelings stay as they should. Let them stay while you share a smile with a friend, A friend who’d welcome you, no rent to spend. The ones who can feel the loneliness in your tone, Such friends thar are angelic, heavenly sent, to see you not alone. How often we neglect the down days we face, Spinning them with smiles, filling them with busy pace. If only we spoke awhile, we’d see humans are wild, Feelings like seasons, changing with time, reconciled. So, learn to love your journey, every sad page too, For as we weave through life, they make you, the you.

THE TOUCH

In life’s relational journey, this I’ve found so true and clear,  A lesson learned from those I hold so dear.  In all relationships, it’s more about you,  Than placing blame on what others do. When a flashlight dims, what do you say?  You don’t discard it, just change the way.  As replacing the batteries, bring back the light,  To have it once again, shine so bright. When friends falter, what do we often do?  It’s easy to cast them aside, send them to the dark.  But should this be our chosen path?  My take is no, instead let's help them, dispel the wrath. Like a torch that guides us through the night,  Friends may need our help to shine their light.  Some need double A batteries; attention and affection,  Others may need triple A: affection, attention and acceptance. Some othets simply need C: a touch of compassion, While others may need D: direction with passion. Whatever the battery, if they still don’t glow,  Stay compa...

Managing Emotions: Bitterness and Anger

Bitterness can be likened to cancer, toxic when kept inside. It acts like parasites that feed on their host, slowly draining vitality. In contrast, anger, when managed properly, can be a healthier emotional response. Anger is fiery and can be intense, but it does not simmer indefinitely. While bitterness may not directly cause death, it can harm individuals indirectly. Prolonged bitterness can lead to diseases and trauma, which are detrimental to one’s well-being. On the other hand, expressing anger in a civil manner is akin to a controlled fire that clears obstacles in its path. It is wise to express anger, especially when faced with insults, to communicate that such behavior is unacceptable. An appropriate expression of anger can be an effective response to injustice, whereas bottled-up bitterness can exacerbate problems and lead to further complications. While bitterness may not directly cause death, it can harm individuals indirectly. Prolonged bitterness can lead to diseases and t...

GROWING OLD OR GROWING UP?

Most people do not grow up but old though, We all must inevitably age Getting to that age where we may start to be frail, wrinkled, sag, grey, When we sometimes grow so old that we forget where things are kept, etc To grow up is different and requires some sacrifices: Growing up is synonymous  with taking responsibility, matured  Not indulging in childish ventures without thinking it through Knowing that actions and reactions have consequences So, for the many embarking on this journey of growing,  Which is it in your case and where will you place you? Are you simply growing older or growing up? Have you replaced the garment of childishness or is it reinventied? The choice  is always yours to make As no such journey is a shared responsibility

LAST WORDS

In transient halls of travel ports and motor parks  I have witnessed more sincere hugs and kisses Compared to the grandest of wedding ceremonues.  For with the uncertainties that come with departures, love is distilled to its purest form, Same way, at burial sites, where silence sways,  Prayers feels more heartfelt than in any halo ground or cathedral.  For oftentimes, in the presence of a loss,  Faith finds whispers of hope amidst echoes of grief. When the last breath is feared and death’s shadow looms  Words become become as precious as good;  Each sentiment measured and treasured.  Each goodbye a testament, an enduring flame.  For in the face of finality, with no stakes or intentions, We speak with the clarity and sincerity of our souls.

AGING AND THE GREAT EXPECTATION

Let me share a secret, and  well-kept lie,  As I’ve grown old, here’s what I know:  Nobody, and I mean nobody, has a clue,  Of what they’re supposed to be, or what to pursue in life. We’re all just making it up as we go,  Listening to society’s tales, a constant show.  They sold us fairy tales, saying by so and so age,  We should have done this or turned that page. Sorry to break it, but here’s the true alert,  We’re all wading through life’s daily dirt.  No rule book, no codes, no yardstick to measure,  Life’s not a script, it’s a treasure. Age doesn’t magically bestow wisdom’s light,  It often brings creaky joints and lost might  Where vitality fades, dreams sometimes stall,  We’re all stumbling, pretending we know what should be. Hoping no one sees, we’re as everyone else, as lost,  Navigating life, no matter the cost.  So here’s my take, stop stressing the plan,  Make it up as you go, be your own fan. Ta...

WHEN I SAY I LOVE YOU

True love springs from the depths of the heart. It demands a choice to love in every moment. For loving only in the here and now is not enough, As falling into the state of present love is easy. I love the sun when it shines most vibrantly, I love the trees when they offer me cooling shade, I love the breeze when it takes my breath away. But true love is more than a stolen breath. True love is loving the body when it has shrunk to bones, It is loving the sun from sunrise to sunset. This is the love I mean when I say, “I love you.” It means I love you in every moment. My love, as it is in the present, was same tense in the past, as will be in the future. It is saying, “I love you,” when there is everything to offer and when nothing is left. It is loving not just a version, but every version of you. It is, saying, “I love you,” then, now, and for all time.

Prayer Birthday Poem for you, dear Gracededieu

On this your day, of renewal, Fourteen years of joy and grace, My wish is that you continue with  Radiant smile upon your face and heart. May blessings shower from above, Wrap you in warmth, and endless love. May wisdom guide you every way, And light your path, both night and day. With each step, may you find, Strength in heart and peace of mind. May dreams take flight, and hopes arise, Underneath the vast, blue skies. Happy birthday Gracededieu, dear and sweet, May your journey be complete. In faith and love, may you grow, With God’s grace, forever glow.

The Positive Mindset

Why are wolves are seen as wise, and, Why should we live like them, you might surmise? Wolves never feast on what’s decayed,  In the circus of jesters, they are never swayed.  They honour bonds from the heart, pure and true,  Bonding for life, with love that’s due. When one life is lost, the other for months mourns,  In their hearts, love ought to be adorned.  Respecting elders, they stand tall,  In their wisdom, we should find a call. As humans, we have much to learn,  From wolves, without ego, virtues brightly burn.  Embrace these traits, and Let’s strive to be Wise, noble, wild and free.

MY MOTHER - A REFLECTION

I awoke today in memories of a loving mother, I grew,  Who through thick and thin, stood steadfast and true.  In my years of rebellion and endless strife, She bore the brunt of my troubles and skive. Not deserving of the pain I caused,  Her heart, so pure, never paused.  With limited means, she cared and gave,  Her love, a beacon, to my soul saved. Now, with the wisdom that time bestows,  I see the sacrifices, the love that flows.  As a parent now, I understand the weight,  The trials she faced, the burdens so great. Mothers are golden, their worth beyond measure,  Embodiments of love, endurance, and treasure.  In reflection, I kneel, seeking forgiveness,  For mothers are the epitome of selfless kindness.

A MEMORABLE DAY FOR A PRINCE AND HIS QUEEN:

On this blessed day, the 13th of September,  A union of love we shall always remember.  Prince Olajide Ige and his Queen, Anita, so dear,  In the court of Ikoyi, their vows they declare. Though roads may lead to the registry’s gate,  The Prince’s kindness allows us to celebrate without heading to the court.  With hearts full of joy, we honor his grace,  As he embarks on this beautiful life’s embrace. Rich in wisdom, benevolent and kind,  Anita and Jide's love story is one of a kind.  To them, we lift our prayers, fervent and true,  For a blissful marriage, blessed anew. May their union be rich with love’s sweet song,  Under God’s mercy, where they belong.  May their children grow in joy and light,  Guided by faith, day and night. Congratulations, dear Prince Olajide Victor Ige,  May your journey together be forever blessed.

THE DEMOCRATIC MIRAGE IN NIGERIA

In our lands, democracy is a dream, that Propaganda machines keep fractured, it seems.  Where wealthy nations and individuals alike,  Use riches to take control and perpetuate their might. Where brute force and violence, are another dark path,  Where fear is used as a weapon to stay rooted in wrath. and Where therefore wealth and brute force join hands in the night,  Actions go unchallenged, as control is the ultimate might. With ordinary lives, under sway,  Violence is meted out to those who dare disobey.  Manipulative politicians pursue power as a means to an end,  Corruption is turned ally as there are no rules that cannot be bent. Anyone once entrenched in the cult, won’t want to relinquish their thrones,  Mentees, families and groups are ultimately the power to be sewn.  Dictatorial rule under any disguise and corruption are the game,  While perpetual poverty praise-sing and follow like ships, the people’s shame. As the people's fea...

TO EMBRACE THE NOW

On daily windows of time, the past is sewn,  A chapter closed, as its seeds are sown.  We experience all sorts and sometimes, they are, of losses with shadows cast,  Yet none of us can change what’s in our past. So, to dwelling on our yesterdays in regrets is to stay bind,  Rather than have such precious moments left behind.  Moving on is a release, it is, of letting burdens go,  No strings attached, just let what's left of life flow. Look in the past if you have to, not in anger, nor in fear,  But in awareness and experiences of life you hold dear.  And since the future of our tomorrow’s veil remains unknown,  Cherish now moments you have, make it your own. For in making such decision, strength you’ll find,  A future remaining bright, and, a liberated mind.

RISE FROM THE ASHES

I know some things sometimes would not go your way,  Where confusion may clouds your mind.  And, if you are angry, that’s okay,  But don’t let it consume your heart. Don’t let it define who you are,  For your heart doesn’t deserve a permanent scar.  It shouldn’t hold a place in your mind,  Leave those dark thoughts in the abyss. Let good vibes grow within your soul,  Take a moment, a day, even a month to moan.  But don’t let it take over your Being,  For brighter days are what await you. Work to lift the weight off our chest,  And throw it into the abyss to rest.  Reclaim your joy and light,  Though it may not be here and now. But I know for sure, you will come through,  You got this.

MAKING LOVE WORK

In times of turmoil, chaos, and despair, What keeps us grounded, what turn keeps love going and fair? A wise woman once shared her guiding light, Five ‘Ls’ to cherish, and to hold tight. Life and Love, the first of the two ‘Ls’ she spoke, Without each other, they both would choke. For life without love is empty and cold, A story unfinished, a tale untold. Laughter is next, but it must be pure, For laughter without love is hard to endure. It breaks hearts, it divides, it brings pain, But with love, it heals, it binds, it sustains. Labour follows, the fourth ‘L’ in line, Without love, it’s a burden, a steep climb. But when love fuels your work, it becomes a joy, A purpose, a passion, a life to enjoy. The final ‘L’ is Listening, truly profound, Without love, it’s just noise, an empty sound. But with love, every word, every sigh, Speaks volumes, connects, and never dies. So find your ‘Ls’, let them light your way, Through the darkest night, the brightest day. For these ‘Ls’ make life worth...

Moving On

In the quiet corners of my thought, a rhythmic sound softly plays,  Opening the doors to the future stays, a challenge some days. Yet moving on in life, a journey we must embrace, As the past may still cling on to us tightly, to hold us back. To stay in your moving on route, love yourself a little more than you did yesterday, Make yourself a priority, in every possible way. Chase the goals that make you a better you, Be grateful for what you have, and all you can pursue. Let gratitude be the foundation of your dreams, For a brighter tomorrow, where hope always gleams. Celebrate your uniqueness, your amazing personality, You are here, alive, a testament to life’s vitality. Think of those who’d wish to be in your place, To embrace your journey, with courage and grace.

PUZZLING

In the quiet corners of my minds, Where light and shadows embrace and curiosity twines, A riddle whispers, veiled in rhyme. Why does this Africa vs the West disparity persist still? Africa, rich in soil and sun, Her veins pulse with wealth and resources of all sorts, Yet her currencies falter, weak and frail, While Western coffers shine, swell and sail. The answer perhaps lies in historical grip, A tale of artfulness, power, greed, and ships, where colonialislism still echoes resounded, As so named aid flows one way, unbound. The West, they say, extends a hand, But is it aid or subtle manipulations? To keep the scales forever tipped, Africa’s destiny tightly gripped. How long, oh continent of pride and so blessed, Must you wait for fate and right tide ride? Will the West ever give in without a fight, Where you wake and natural selection deems it right? Truly, something is amiss, a haunting refrain hangs in the air, As Africa’s riches bleed in vain, her citizens and nature both abused, ...

CHOOSE PARTNERS WISELY

In life’s grand design, inevitably, we seek companionship, A partner whether in marriage or dating who can lift us to the stars, Or drag us down into the abyss, Their influence profound, their impact far reaching. For qualities admired, we hold them close, Yet flaws accepted—this is love’s true cue. In partnership, we learn, we ebb, we flow, A dance of imperfections, stitching heart to heart. The smart partner, like Midas’ golden touch, Can turn mere dreams into wealth and growth untold, Their wisdom, like a compass, guiding one another, Together, ascending, futures bold. While with the empty-headed Trappers, beware of their hollow soul, Whose ignorance can lead to demise, They stumble blindly, play a dangerous role, Their presence draining, like a moonless sky. One partner should suffice for the heart with plans, Who cherishes their vessel, mind, and frame, for  we can flirt with beauty? A fleeting glance, Yet character is better—true love’s lasting flame. Treachery in whatever fo...

THE CLIMB WITHIN

When the mountain looms too high to scale today, Seek not defeat, but find another way. For, there will be hill awaiting your eager stride, A path less steep, where dreams and hopes collide. Should morning bring you sorrow, linger still, Embrace the warmth of bed, a gentle thrill. For heavy days, like burdens, may descend, Yet plans can shift, to be gently mended. No shame in rearranging time’s design, Nor let your worth be diminished by a change benign. Same as when showers sting like needles, and you’re worn, Wear still your proud crown that may be weathered but unsworn. A single day, a fleeting breath in time, Not equal to a lifetime’s grand design. Rest, is not laziness, as there is wisdom in retreat, in having a quiet pause to heal a fractured beat. The world spins on, relentless in its dance, While you recalibrate, realign, enhance. The mountain waits, unyielding, patient, true, For when you’re ready, it will welcome you. Remember this: four fingers, strong and sure, Can shield t...

ESSENCE

May you find someone who comprehends the language of your heart Eliminating the necessity of being burdened with the constant task of conveying the depths of your emotions  That one who turns out appreciating and values every aspect of your being, your mind, your love and your presence Your Being, unquestionably supremely created,  Your mind; sound, intelligent and unclouded, A love that cherishes you, that is destined to discover you and hold you forever as meant to be Your presence; embraced without pretence Where you find peace in unexpected places and circumstances At the heart where life takes new forms and colours That embraces the chance to encounter love that knows no bounds or  limitations For you and every one of God’s creations deserve nothing less, and My prayer is that you come to realize your inheritance, your inherent worthiness, and  Understand that you can embrace and experience everything and every goodness  May your heart find harmony with you...

MY SWEETENED LAWLESS THOUGHTS

Here, in the wild gardens of my mind, I dance, Radically, untamed, free from the chains of the norm, Creating the space where boundaries dissolve, Where imagination is the only law that governs. I paint with the colours of my body’s freedom, Each stroke defies the rules of a world too small, Embracing the power of what I can do, Limited only by the scope of my mind’s reach. I care not for society’s narrow lanes, For I’ve torn down the walls they built around me, Liberated from the fears that once held me tight, Now I soar on the wings of my unchained thoughts. I know the strength in reigning in the storm, Mastery over my desires and whims, Making choices rooted in wisdom’s soil, Unafraid of the consequences I own. No hand can steer the course of my life’s ship, For I am the captain, charting my way, Yet I anchor in the harbour of decency, Guided by the stars of intellect and grace. I know that time is a fleeting gift, A precious jewel...

MY MINDSET

In the quiet chambers of my mind, I forge my shield, A resilient armor woven from threads of understanding. For I have learned that tit4tat, like a bitter fruit, Yields no nourishment, but angel of bitterness. Why carry the weight of wounded pride? When the world spins on, why not stay indifferent to hurt, for the sun would rise to cast its golden light upon both saint and sinner alike. I tread softly, not to avoid the thorns, But to spare the fragile petals of truth. For honesty blooms most freely in unguarded hearts, And authenticity dances in the open spaces. So, I choose to stand unoffended, driven by sentinel of empathy, and guardian of grace. For in this delicate dance of vulnerability, I glimpse the raw beauty of humanity. And though the surface may ripple with negativity, Beneath lies a deeper current—my knowing. To witness another’s truth, unfiltered and unmasked, Is a privilege, a secret shared between souls. So, I let them speak with words untrimmed, And I shall listen, not ...

EMBRACING THE UNKOWN: STARTING SOMETHING NEW:

When you stand at the precipice of change, it’s like reaching your hand toward a blazing fire.  The heat sears your skin, and doubt creeps in.  Why willingly subject yourself to this trial? Your brain, ever the sceptic, questions your sanity.  But deep down, you know this is your path—the one you must tread. Starting anew is akin to lifting a mental weight and forging resilience within your mind.  Sometimes, that weight feels insurmountable, threatening to paralyze you. Imagine standing on a high diving board, poised to leap into the unknown.  You can swim, yes, but what if you drown? Anxiety grips you, shaking your resolve. Anxiety—undeniably real—plagues countless souls.  It’s not an abstract concept; it’s a tangible force.  My heart aches for those who suffer silently, their cries unheard.  Yet, fear is only half the battle. As you teeter on the edge, your existence is split between doubt and determination,  Remember this: starting is...

THE ACT AND ART OF MANNERS.

Manners, in the act and arts of man is where character and grace converge,  Where lies the art of manners, profound and true, A beacon that guides us, me, you and us all. For manners, they say, maketh a man,  A mirror reflecting our soul’s grand plan.  Reflective in every gesture, every word we choose,  Our essence shines through, leaving no excuse. When we lend a hand to lift another,  Or listen with empathy, like one who cares,  We weave threads of respect, nice and kind,  Crafting connections that withstand life’s duress. Simple acts, like a warm greeting shared,  Or a heartfelt smile freely declared,  Ripple through time, leaving traces unseen,  Planting seeds of kindness where love has been. So let us practice such social graces,  Creating a haven in our shared spaces,  For manners are more than mere etiquette,  They’re the foundation of trust, the bonds we knit. And as we navigate the maze of life’s intricate dance,...

MODESTY: THE STRENGTH

In the heart of the world's vibrant embrace is Africa and Nigeria,  Where emotions dance and stories interlace,  Lies a trait both subtle and profound,  It is, modesty—a gem that generational silently resounds. Humility, its first gentle hue, A cloak worn lightly, yet steadfast and true.  Without boastful echoes, no need for validation,  Just quiet confidence—a serene forbearance. Self-awareness, the mirror’s gentle gaze,  Reflecting authenticity in myriad ways.  A modest soul knows their own skin well,  No need to embellish, no need to swell. Confidence, not in grandiose display,  But in quiet whispers, it finds its way.  Strength resides in the unspoken grace,  A blend of humility, leaving hearts in chase. Trust, like roots anchored deep and strong,  Springs forth from modesty, where it belongs.  Reliability blooms, petals unfurl,  For those who wear modesty—dress in precious pearl. Sincerity, the final stroke of th...

BOUNTIFUL

Mighty, silent, yet profound when it arrives and leaves. Not just in gifts wrapped with ribbons and bows,  But in the tender kindness that the soul bestows. Beyond mere tokens, it travels on wings of breeze,  Embracing empathy, whispering with ease.  For when we give freely, without expectation’s weight, We build bridges of trust, where love resonate. In small acts, dewdrops on morning grass,  Tokens turns grand gestures, like constellations that amass,  Generosity blooms—like fragrant, a timeless art, Binding hearts together than stitch them apart. It’s not entitlement that fuels this sacred fire,  But a selfless flame that burns higher and higher.  And as we embody this spirit, day by day,  We pave the path to connections that forever stay. So let kindness flow, like a river’s gentle stream,  And watch as bonds deepen, like a cherished dream. Where generosity is the compass guiding our way,  We create love’s symphony, where hearts fore...

TO BE FOREVER YOUNG

In veil. as time whiles, where years weave their threads,  Lies a secret, whispered softly by the wind::  To be young at heart, ageless in spirit, Is dancing with life,  Unburdened by where wind blows the sand Not like in the reckless abandon of youth,  But in the quiet courage of spontaneity,  Is the chamber to find the elixir that keeps life aflame,  Where to find the zest that defies the pages in calendars. Each dawn, a canvas for wonder, Each dusk, pregnant with invitation to explore,  With eyes wide open, hearts eager,  We chase sunsets and stardust, unrestrained. Playfully whispering exchanges, like hidden treasures,  Thoughtful gestures, like petals on a breeze,  And in the spaces between laughter and stories,  We etch memories that time cannot erase. Weekend getaways become spontaneous adventures, New hobbies bloom like wildflowers,  And in the simple act of renewed love for life,  We discover the magic of forever....

DIGNITY

As should be in reserved chambers of our heart, Where character and grace intersect, Is dignity standing tall, unwavering as true, A beacon for all, a virtue wall ought to pursue. It begins with knowing our own worth, A compass guiding us through life's dearth. To value our essence, our core beliefs, And set boundaries firm, like ancient cliffs. In adversity's tempest, dignity prevails, A poised response when the world assails. With elegance and strength, we navigate, Our sails unfurled, our spirit innate. Dignity knows no age, nor fleeting times, It blooms in hearts seasoned by joys and tears. Emotional maturity, a timeless art, A symphony played on the strings of the heart. Like mortar binding stones in a grand design, Dignity cements bonds, transcending time. In its embrace, we find our best selves, A bridge to connecting, our authenticity personality.

THE SCENT OF YOU

In a room, you step, is a silent stare,  Not just to your looks, but an aura on high.  Cologne, a potent tool, whispers allure,  Before words escape, it sets the score. An opening act, your scent takes the stage, and Sophistication and confidence engage.  Hints of mystery, sensuality’s plea,  Enticing all with its alluring spree. Chosen with care, a scent is an extension of self,  Defines your essence, a fragrant wealth.  Lingering trails awaken desire anew,  Cologne, oh cologne, it’s all about you.

LAUGHTER, THE MAGICAL:

In life’s grand playhouse, where hearts and minds intertwine, A gift awaits those with a sparkling design.  It’s not wealth or beauty, nor titles or fame,  But often a simple trait that sets souls aflame. A good sense of humour is like a beacon of light, that Draws people close, day and night.  It’s the magnetic force that bridges the gap,  Creating bonds that only cackles can unwrap. Picture a first date, nerves on display,  Two hearts uncertain, what words to convey.  A witty remark, a shared chuckle or two,  Will have the ice swiftly cracked, resetting the mood anew. Beyond the surface, where laughter resides,  Lies a deeper connection that silently guides.  For humour revels in wit, intelligence, and grace,  A bridge to hearts, warmth in invitational space. Shared laughter weaves threads of camaraderie, Stitching souls together, forming a tapestry.  In the echo of giggles, understanding blooms, Uniting us all in life’s delightfu...

Fitness

In the fulness of life, where bodies sway,  Beyond mere form, a deeper truth holds sway.  Fitness transcends the mirror’s gaze,  It’s how you carry yourself through life’s maze. Discipline, a silent partner by your side,  Whispers, “Rise early, greet the dawn with pride.”  Dedication, a flame that never wanes,  Ignites your spirit and fuels your inner flames. Self-care, a gentle art, like morning dew,  Nourishes roots unseen, and makes hearts renew.  People gravitate to those who tend their flame,  For well-being radiates, and they’re never the same. Responsibility, commitment, and keen awareness are the jewels that adorn your fitness.  Not just muscles flexed or miles run,  But the grace with which you rise with the sun. Confidence blooms, petals unfurl,  As you lift weights of doubt, let courage swirl. Self-esteem, a beacon in the darkest night,  Guides you toward the stars, igniting your light. Vitality pulses through e...

KNOW YOURSELF

Decisions are made with conviction, situations are faced with grace, and you a leader emerge, leaving an indelible trace. Respect follows, and trust blooms—a powerful blend, In this dance of leadership and confidence, you can ascend.

BOUNDARIES:

In life’s vast sea, we set our sacred bounds, External walls, and internal rules we weave, Not diving headlong into passion’s rounds, For self-respect, our hearts and minds believe. On first dates, we withhold intimacy,  A choice that speaks of honour, strength, and grace,  And those who share our values will see,  The worth in boundaries, love’s sacred space. The risk lies in walking away, we know,  Yet learned habits define our unique art,  For in the quiet strength of saying no,  We find our essence and set our course apart. So let us stand firm, steadfast and true, Boundaries carved in love, for me and you.

SECRETS OF THE PASSION MAZE

Unpredictability: Be the unexpected breeze that stirs the leaves, The enigma that lures, the mystery that weaves. For predictability dulls love’s vibrant hue, Embrace spontaneity—let your spirit always be renewed. Attentive Listening: In whispered conversations, hearts find their voice, Listening becomes an art—a powerful choice. Lean in, absorb their words, decode their soul, For intimacy blooms where attentive ears enrol. Respect’s Delicate Balance: Respect, a noble virtue, weaves its golden thread, Yet excess bows low, like a fragile reed. Be authentic—stand tall, not a doormat’s plight, Reciprocity blooms when respect feels right. Humour’s Lightness: Jokes shared like secret treasures, Laughter echoing through life’s vast measures. Play, tease, and dance—without crossing lines, For humour bridges gaps, where connection shines. Dressing the Part: Invest in your canvas—the vessel you present, Not opulence, but care—a style well-spent. Hygiene, attire, and self-love entwine, Enhancing...

The Authentic You Frame of Mind:

In life’s bustling crowd, we often find, A choice that sets our hearts and minds: To walk away, against the tide, When success and favour seem to collide. Fear whispers, “Stay, don’t let go,” But deep down, a different truth we know: It’s in those steps away, we truly find, The spark that ignites our worth, unconfined. No need for constant nods or approval, Be genuine, let your voice be removed: Speak your mind, stand tall and free, For authenticity is where you’ll be. Disapproval? It’s not something to dread, When beliefs clash, let your truth be spread: Call out what’s wrong, refuse to conform, Your unique essence, a powerful norm. So embrace the courage to walk away, It’s the mindset that colours your day: Your DNA of worth, a beacon so bright, An authentic you, shining through the night. People will notice, invest, and hold dear, The genuine you; a soul they’re lucky to be near.

UNVEILING YOUR WORTH:

In life’s grand theatre, where roles are cast, often everyone wears masks. But authenticity lies beyond the facade, Not in fitting what others want, but in being yourself. Being authentic isn’t about alpha or beta, It’s about knowing your value, not just data. Your worth isn’t skin-deep, nor mere pretence, It’s the treasure you bring to love’s immense. Don’t squeeze into boxes, predefined and tight, For beauty, assets, or norms, they aren’t anyone's sole right. Declare your presence boldly, without fear, You’re not an arse to be tossed. Do you believe in your worth, deep within? Or let doubts erode what’s rightfully akin? That fleeting attraction, seemingly small, Can bloom into significance if you heed its call. Strength isn’t just a tough exterior shell, Sometimes it’s a softness that weaves the spell. Let things flow, share pieces of your soul, Don’t hoard love; it’s richer when it’s whole. Beta and alpha are labels and fade like mist at dawn, For everyone stumbles, even the str...

Breath of Serenity

Take a deep breath and immerse yourself in the calm.  It's a gentle balm for the tired soul. Amid life's persistent worries,  Seek the peace that brings you back to your centre. Grant yourself the gift of pause,  It is a sacred time to bond with self.  To find the cause in the quiet:  To reflect, dream, and respond. Rest should never be a mere suggestion  But a vital act of self-care.  Neglect it not; let this confession  Be your guide to solace rare. Listen to your body's plea,  A whisper before tears cascade.  Breathe in strength, let your heart be free,  Exhale woes that have overstayed. Laugh out loud to let joy resound;  So, joy, find healing's potent spell. And, With each chuckle, health abounds;  For in laughter's dance, all shall be well. Revive, restore, and rejuvenate your spirit's gleam,  With deep breaths that reach unseen depths.  Hold for four; let go in four seconds in a stream;  And, in such ...

THE UNSPOKEN GOODBYE

In closeness, we thrived, side by side, until a single bump, our bond burned.  The threads that wove us heart to heart Untied, unravelled swiftly, pulled apart. No quest for reasons, no seeking why, just silent departures, with no fond goodbye.  Instead, we are lingering long, silence drowned; none of us seeking a turn around. Ghosted by kin, more than strangers met, a silent trend we blindly set.  To bury bonds without a word Is pride’s act, absurdly stirred. Both hands made mistakes, yet pride stood tall in ego’s lands— No queries cast, no wellness sought, just memories, with anguish fraught. When stalling struck our friendship’s core, we dug up faults deeply buried.  Eager to flee to skies so clear, we forgot the loss we should hold dear. Let us mend the ties that break easily; with words of care, let misunderstandings cease.  For in each goodbye unsaid, unshared, lies heartaches in heaps, deeply layered. So, please speak every parting gently, and leave no fr...

TRUE LOVE IS WORTH ITS WEIGHT

In the silent gap where action gently rests,  Love blooms, a tender, unseen flower’s quest.  It asks us to shrink, to bend humbly,  To prune the excess, let the heartstrings mend. Love’s not a storm of fierce, impassioned cries,  But a seedling slow to rise underneath watchful eyes.  With care, its roots reach deep, its leaves unfold,  A journey from the sprout to love untold. Upon your heart, this truth forever press: Love comes in time and soothes fear and stress.  Forget what you’ve been taught about love before,  Love is thrilling, yes, but also sometimes shakes the core. Yet in its challenge lies the sweetest bait,  For love, that’s true; is worth patient's wait.

MISS DIAMOND:

Many gaze upon the glitter, the surface sparkle that catches the eyes, They marvel at its polished and perfect flirting dance with the senses Yet often, they miss and fail to see its worth when cloaked in nature’s clothes, For its sparkles are not to impress in its raw, uncut state. Dismissed as mere glass fragments by them who cannot tell, The diamond’s true potential and its value they dispel. But whether cut or in the rough, its essence does remain. It is worth untainted, Its value is untouched by other's authentication. To know a diamond’s heart, one must look past the sheen; Feel its weight, pulse within, and beauty yet concealed. In every form, it holds its might, from earthy beds to royal crowns, Unpolished or upon the stage, its value remains the same. Patience reveals the treasure that hasty eyes forsake, For its true worth lies beneath the surface, awaiting one awake. Let others chase the fleeting glow, mistaking glass for gem, You are more than sparkle; yo...

At the Crossroads of Life

I have now arrived at this place, Where upfront conversations find their space. Subliminal posts and passive aggression are no longer part of my expression. If you should come knocking on my door with negativity, I’ll pray for you, my heart filled with positivity, honesty and beatitude intertwine, As I navigate this renewed intricate design. Motives, like a fuel-filled locomotive, Chokingly closer, faster—life’s emotive. Yet even when disturbed or distressed, I stay resolute, No need to explain—I’ve spoken my truth. Honour bestowed upon the genuine few, Boldness, majesty, and modesty in view. Listening ears, always ready to lend, In this place, authenticity is my friend. Friends, like life itself, precious and few, Sticking by my side, like morning dew. Insisting on sense? Not my pursuit, I flow with life’s current, resolute. Each occurrence was a lesson in disguise, Blessings veiled as grace before my eyes. Renewed, I stand at life’s grand gate, Embracing the journey, early or late

SEASON OF RENEWAL

In the garden of our hearts, a  new season blooms, Where wisdom whispers and clarity looms. Prudential choices we pray guide our ways, as we seek connections that gently sway. A prudential path, both wise and bright, that leads us to bonds that feel just right. No more murky waters, no more strife, or stress, just easeful connections that enrich our lives. In such a season and space,, love is not a fight, But a dance where dtrifes take flight. Reciprocity blooms, like petals unfurled, As we nurture connections that light up our world. Gone are then such days of emotional drain, Of relationships that caused us pain. No more eggshells, no more guessing, We choose bonds that bring us genuine blessing. We step away from uncertainty’s haze, No longer lost in a relational maze. We deserve places where we’re seen, supported and heard, Where respect and value are freely conferred. A partner who soothes our trembling nerves, A safe harbour where vulnerability serves. Together, we regulate, ...

In life’s tapestry, woven day by day, We are confronted with choices, each step our own way. With the world’s voices echoing, subjective opinions so loud, Yet within, our true compass, our hearts need to remain unbowed. When labelled “fat,” or deemed “too thin,” Remember, it’s your journey, your path to begin. Transformation

In the crucible of change, your old life smolders, Its embers fading, consumed by the flames of growth. This metamorphosis demands a toll, a currency of sacrifice: Your comfort zone, once familiar and cozy, Now a relic left behind on the path to renewal. Your comfort zone, that snug cocoon of habit, Must be unraveled, thread by thread. The warmth it provided becomes stifling, A shroud that hinders your wingspan. So, step out into the brisk air of uncertainty, For there lies the canvas of your transformation. Your sense of direction, once a compass, Now spins wildly, pointing to uncharted lands. Fear not the disorientation; it’s the rite of passage. Trust that the stars will guide you, Even when the constellations rearrange. Bonds may fray, connections strained, As you forge ahead, leaving familiar shores. Family ties, once unbreakable, may stretch thin, Yet remember: blood is not the sole kinship. Seek soul companions who walk alongside, Their loyalty unwavering, their love un...

THE BACKWARD LAW

In life’s intricate waltz, we sway, Seeking joy, and chasing dreams each day. Yet paradoxes weave our threads, Where wanting more leaves our hearts misled. Wanting a positive experience is a negative experience. We yearn for bliss, and a sunlit sky, But craving joy can make it fly. For in our grasp, it slips away, The more we chase, the less we sway. Accepting a negative experience is a positive experience. When storms descend and shadows fall, Embrace the rain, the tempest’s call. For growth emerges from life’s strife, And pain can sculpt a richer life. The pursuit of happiness can actually make you unhappier. Like butterflies we chase delight, Yet wings may fray in endless flight. Contentment blooms when we release, The need to grasp and tightly seize. More importantly, you want to be rich. We hunger for abundance and wealth, But riches don’t ensure the soul’s health. The more we crave, the more we lack, Our hearts are entangled in desire’s track. The more poor and needy you feel, re...

Long-Term Lust vs. Short-Term Love

In life’s grand theatre, passions intertwine, Long-term lust and fleeting love engage,  Yet in this dance, which path shall we assign?  To love’s brief spark or lust’s enduring stage? Lust, like a wildfire, burns with fervent heat, Its flames consuming reason, leaving scars.  Desire’s hunger is insatiably and ever fleeting, Yet fades when novelty no longer mars. But love, ah love! A tender, patient bloom, Roots deep within the soil of shared delight.  It weathers storms, endures the winter’s gloom, And blossoms forth in moments pure and bright. So choose, dear heart, with wisdom’s gentle art, Short-term love,  For it is in brevity that lies life’s truest path.

MY THOUGHTS AS BIRTHDAY WISH TO MY WIFE, YINKA OZIQUE.

The longer I have been with and loved you, The more deeply I have come to realise in truth that often Love, whether we call it an affair, friendship, marriage, or  brief romance, Is the sentimental seek and search to, mirror and magnify one's life in another And after planting, and gently nurturing it; nicely, kindly, steadfastly and committedly to growing, On such a journey will come stumbling mountains, distractions and all sorts of scuttles At such moment went life, love, shame, sorrow and distractions intervene That is when a clear kind, wonderful and angelic  person like the one I have in my life becomes  a life-line There to beam me back to reality, to refocus on my presence, be grateful and be in the grace of divine presence You, Yinka Ozique, you are that angel that miracle of marriage has afforded me Happy birthday darlyn, and as you move on from May 5th, may the renewed journey remain blessed as has been the others.

Timi Ehizogie's Sonnet.

Timi, my dear, your name dances on my lips, A melody of longing, sweet, loving and strong.  In the quiet corners of my heart, you’ve sprung, A secret bloom that’s right where it belongs. I yearn to traverse the depths of your body and soul, To set your eyes and heart with stars. Each heartbeat emits a reminder of you wanting to be with me, hungry for my touch, to hold you close beneath celestial skies. It was fate, the wonderous mistress, weaving her thread that has bonded us in this web. I am older, married, and experienced, While you, my darling, have life’s grand expanses to experience. Still, I dream of us having stolen moments, wild and free When time stands still, and it’s just you and me stripped of all pretences. Thank you for all the stolen moments we have shared so far,  For the kisses sent across the net.  And though our paths may diverge, I want you to know I’ll always care, my baby boo,  Timi.

“The Embrace of True Friendship"

In the quiet corners of our souls, Where shadows dance and secrets reside, True friendship blooms, unyielding and whole, Beyond mere gains, where hearts confide. It’s not about the self, but the other, A sacred pact woven with threads of trust, Where vulnerability finds a gentle cover, And judgment flees, replaced by love’s robust. To share our deepest fears and scars, To lay bare the tapestry of our past, Requires a friend who’ll bear the stars, Listening, understanding, and be steadfast. When broken pieces lie scattered wide, A true companion steps forth, serene, Kindness mends, like a soothing tide, Guiding us toward healing, unforeseen. Intimate friendship, a sanctuary found, In the presence of a soul unmasked, No pretences, no judgment to confound, Just acceptance, where authenticity basks. In a world of masks and transient guise, We seek those rare gems, those hearts aglow, Where intimacy thrives, and love defies, A state of being only true friends know. So, Femi Amodu, as sixty ...

VOYAGE

Everything happens to us for a reason; A symphony of chance and sometimes terrors,  Life’s unpredictable dance, never ceasing,  Feelings and happenstance, never final. Embrace life in its full spectrum,  For it paints our canvas with vivid hues,  Expect twists and turns, the grand enigma,  Highs and lows interwoven, like morning dew. In moments of bliss,  we soar on wings of light, Yet fears may grip us, with shadows in the night,  But remember this truth, etched in the stars:  No storm lasts forever; it’s merely a passing scar. Just as the sun rises, Unwavering and bold, Hidden behind clouds,  Yet steadfast in its hold,  The key lies in journeying, step by step,  Through valleys and peaks, where dreams are kept. Embrace each experience as a cherished gift,  Let them mold you,  Shape your very core,  But never let them define your character’s rift,  For you’re more than the sum of moments galore. Your present cha...

A SONNET OF GRATITUDE: EMBRACING LIFE'S JOY

To my fellow Writers, guided by DChair and WIN President, In this poetic haven, I share wisdom gleaned, From your responses to my verses, twofold are my lessons: We all ought learn to tread gently upon our own souls, Make kindness our compass, and gratitude our song. For what we possess outweighs what eludes us. Each dawn, a whispered promise—and privilege. On this fleeting voyage across Earth’s canvas, Inevitability dances in both light and shadow. Why, then, dwell on and be dead set on overcloud? Instead, seek the crevices of light  where joy blooms. Life—a fragile gift, is a miracle spunned. Sleep and waking, twin threads we have no control. Escaping mishaps, is all by  His mercy. So, now, as I gaze sleeplessly skyward, seeking stars, And as me and my phone dance these tete-a-tete with you, my kins: My family of Writers, be assured I do so with grateful heart.

STILL UP, STILL HERE; UPDATING.

In the quiet of yesternight, I penned my farewell, A whispered epitaph, my phone and I inked with care, And the reactions was outpouring love that went overdrive in swell: Swiftly were drums full of water poured, to quench my tender flare. “Godforbids” echoed, as if all have some sacred vows; Some contractual whispers by the celestial to their ears that I know not of, So, given another night, I remain here as unwritten fate allows, To taste life’s flavours; the inconveniencing aches, family joys and your love. Thank you all, dear friends and family, for your warm embrace, For wanting me still, though not knowing how near or far my time draws, The Writer within me knows the final trace is inevitable, And I am prepared for the 'whatever,' without fear. And do please, hold my wishes close, let no tear pop or fall, Otherwise, ghostly unrelenting whispers shall haunt, any and all who defy me!! Love Always. Segun.

A SONNET FOR LIFE'S PRECOPUS MOMENTS

In shadows cast by fate's unyielding hand, I recently survived a near fatal accident dancing with death,  Now I linger here near the edge of life's abyss, fragile but still alive, God has bestowed me a gift—a chance to reminisce. I cannot sleep as night stretch like moon-kissed nights, I stay awake pondering mortality's silent plea, How swiftly moments slip through mortal maze, And how we take for granted what we freely are gifted. I've loved and been beloved, felt passion's fire, Traversed the globe, embraced diverse terrain, Tasted life's rich tapestry, its vibrant choir, Each face, each culture, etched upon my brain. My son, my pride, a legacy so bright, My wife, my angel, guiding me with prayers. And Gabriel, my brother, steadfast and true, Across the world, dear kin, I hold you near, If fate should claim me, skies of azure blue, Know this: I'm in a happy place, devoid of fear. No tears, my family and friends, for I have lived my best, To realms unknown,...

True Love Is Light

When love is present in a relationship  it shows affection, care, and respect for one another . It is however a different connection in relationships when such love is true and deepened. True love is a testament to the heart’s might, True love comes like a spell, enveloping thoughts and actions in its light. It’s not measured by physical endowments or apparel worn,  But by the thoughts and contents of character that are inborn. The vows of true love, words cannot form for they are sacred promises, A bond of inner recess, hard to break, True love is deep with roots, not like leaves easily shaken. It is untouched by procrastination, indecision, or reciprocation, It’s a force that’s pure and true, A beacon of hope and inspiration. True love is a feeling that’s hard to describe, but easy to feel, It is a journey that’s worth taking, a dream that’s worth making real. So where you find one, hold on to it Where you find love like honied spice in your dish, cherish...

TIME AS THIEF OF MEMORIES

Time is a thief that steals memories away,  But in my case, brings back good memories of you.  I wake to thoughts that trigger bits of your nuances,  Sometimes it's the leaning or the head tilts exposing the neck, The eyes roll, twist the mouth in a hiss, endless.  So, if I had to relive the brief time we had, including the last day,  What would I change? Nothing...perhaps hold you tighter, kiss you longer  And cherish every moment we shared.  Time is fleeting, and memories fade,  But the time we shared stays sweetened.  It lives on in my heart, alive and always,  A beacon of hope that promises a someday, of a perhaps.
